"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." ~ Psalm 126:5-6

~Consider the Lilies~

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ~Matthew 6:28

Jesus said that the lovely, delicate flowers of the field outshine the outward splendor of Solomon.
Why could He say that? How could that be?

No doubt, Solomon looked very good on the outside. And, yet, these humble flowers are more brilliant than his glory.

I believe Jesus was helping us understand that it isn't the outward beauty that has the truest beauty. It's rather the inward reflection of His character that is of way more value and beauty.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. ~ 1 Peter 3:3,4

Oh, how I want to constantly have "the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit" which is of great value to God.

I desire to reflect His humble, peaceful, beautiful character in every moment and aspect of my life.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. ~Galatians 5:22,23

I pray that each one of you will, too, earnestly desire to be as the lily.

  2. You are welcome, Cami! I'm thankful that it was a blessing to you as well. I know this isn't the usual way these verses are taken, but it struck me this way and I had to share it with my readers and for a school worship. Happy Sabbath! :-)
