"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." ~ Psalm 126:5-6

~Be.~

Be? What about it? It's just a small word, in fact just a verb, right?

Well, no. Even though this word is significant in our English language, this word has a much greater significance in relation to what we should be like and how we should live.

We started an English speaking people's prayer meeting here at the school last Wednesday. And what a wonderful blessing it is! We sang "Dare to Be a Daniel" to start the meeting. (a theme that's had my mind's attention for a while) How fitting it was for what we were soon to read in the book Help in Daily Living (last four chapters from the book Ministry of Healing) by Ellen White.

We read the first section (pages 7-8). Each paragraph is full of DEEP thought that called to our hearts.

I've got to share with you the paragraph at the bottom of page 7 to the top of page 8.
It is our own character and experience that determine our influence upon others. In order to convince others of the power of Christ's grace, we must know its power in our own hearts and lives. The gospel we present for the saving of souls must be the gospel by which our own souls are saved. Only through a living faith in Christ as a personal Saviour is it possible to make our influence felt in a skeptical world. If we would draw sinners out of the swift-running current, our own feet must be firmly set upon the Rock, Christ Jesus.
I can't help but read this paragraph over and over again. The message in this paragraph is very serious, missionaries. In summary, if we want other to have a deep, unbreakable connection with Christ, we ourselves must have that connection. If we want other to be set free from heathenism, and/or other things that are separating them from the Redeemer of the world, we must be severed from anything that stands between us and the Savior.

Concerning "be," I want to share the following quote from Fundamentals of Christian Education, 58:
Let it never be forgotten that the teacher must be what he desires his pupils to become.
Although she here mentions "teacher," we know that we all have an influence upon others. And the principle here is clear that if we are seeking to lead our "pupils" or others to become a certain way, we ourselves must be what we desire them to be. If we are trying lead others to know and love God, we must be filled with God's love and be connected to Him. (See John 15.)

What we are majorly affects what others will become like.

Be: a little word that says a lot in a sentence; a key ingredient to changing one's life.
