"Uh kuh ee geh hsoe. dtuh moh nay yuh tha luh nee luh uh kuh leh dtuh seh." (It is too narrow. I want the sarong to be a little wider.)
I'm given my writing assignment to be done before our next language class.
Naw Htoo Paw closes the book and leans back on the bamboo wall of my hut.
"Teacher..." She pauses and I turn to look at her.
"Teacher, my father he drinks a lot of alcohol. It makes me very sad. And my mother very sad, too."
Holding back the tears, she kneels. Then she says, "Teacher, let's pray."
Kneeling beside her, I pray for her and her family. I prayed most of all that her family would come to know and love God as she does.
Prayer finished, she reclines once again against the bamboo wall.
"Teacher, I want to become a Christian." Oh, heaven couldn't have blessed me more than to have given me the joy of hearing those long hoped-for, prayed-for words.
"But if I become a Christian, then....then my mother and father will not love me. But I know, that if I become a Christian, God will be very happy and love me very much."
Fear and the intensity of the struggle shown on her face.
Arising to leave, I encourage her to be faithful and stand for Christ even if it means being hated and maybe being disowned by her family.
Nodding her head, she replies "Thank you, teacher! Thank you very much."
And, I must say that I haven't seen such a beautiful, glowing smile like that in a while as what shown on her face. It was as though the peace of heaven was beginning to flood through her soul.

My friends and co-reapers,
Please prayer for our dear Naw Htoo Paw.
Up until this school year, she showed little interest in spiritual things. But, then this school year came. She joined our school missions group, participated in one of the weekly prayer groups that usually met one night a week to pray through the night, and began to come to our Friday night Bible study classes.
There is no doubt in my mind that it was God that led me to ask Naw Htoo Paw if she would teach me Karen. God has definitely given her to me as a special mission field. She is slowly opening up more and more of her heart to me. Pray for me. I want to do all I can, through the guidance of the One who works miracles upon hearts, to lead her to full commitment to God.
Tears fill my eyes as I long with all my heart that someday, "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him," will come true in regards to her. (Psalm 126:5-6)
