"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." ~ Psalm 126:5-6

~Miss Hannah Banana & Her 11 Stitches~

Now, some of you may be thinking that my dear sister, Hannah, got eleven stitches, but I will "disappoint" you by letting you sit in on today's new experience on our front porch clinic...

Our friend, *Becky Cameron, and I each practiced suturing on a banana, and Mom was our instructor. Becky named her banana, Mr. Banana, and I named mine, Miss Hannah Banana. (I'll give the credits for her name to my dad...lol)

Here we go...
Miss Hannah Banana awaiting her turn while Mr. Banana (Becky's banana) is getting stitched up. She's good and sterilized...ready to be sewed up.

These victims' gashes went deep to the bone, and they were brought to us with yellow/greenish skin. We didn't do anything to help them solve that problem, though. And, boy, do they have a nice, fruity character to them...
Mr. Banana getting stitched up! Becky has a good sense of humor. At one point, she said, "We can become banana trauma specialists." Haha...Well, I guess that that's what these missionary nurses can do when there are hardly any students or villagers needing to be sutured. lol

Their buddies even sat around to give them good, moral support...They've learned well from the Karen people who usually always have one buddy with them when they come to us.
Both Miss Hannah Banana and Mr. Banana each ended up needing to have two wounds sutured. This is Miss Hannah Banana after her first gash was "sewed" up. It was a very poor job, this inexperienced suturer must admit. It was partly bad because some of the thread wasn't good for bananas, at least. Their hide is very thick and a bit stiff. That's why two of her stitches are out.
The second gash. I think I did a better job on this one.
So, friends, this is Miss Hannah Banana and her 11 stitches--minus the 2 that are absent! =)

*Becky Cameron is here at our school for a short visit....too short.
